About
Attie Hope, Specialist Anxiety Therapist in London

I’m Attie Hope, an anxiety therapist in London. I’m BABCP accredited and specialise in anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, and OCD.
I work with adults who are ready to address anxiety rather than just manage it. My approach is grounded in cognitive behavioural therapy with a particular focus on exposure-based methods. Sessions are available online across the UK and in person in London.
Approach
I tailor therapy to each person because no two people experience anxiety in the same way. Sessions draw on CBT and, where appropriate, exposure and response prevention for OCD. The pace and focus are guided by what you need, not by a fixed programme.
Why specialist anxiety therapy
Anxiety responds best to treatment that is specific rather than general. I work primarily with anxiety because I understand not just the symptoms but the mechanisms that keep it going the avoidance patterns, the safety behaviours, the way uncertainty becomes threatening. That understanding shapes how I structure sessions and what we focus on together.
General counselling has genuine value for many people. But for anxiety that has become entrenched or is significantly affecting daily life, a specialist approach tends to produce better and more lasting results.
What to expect from working together
The first session is an assessment. It is a conversation to understand how your anxiety works specifically for you, when it shows up, what maintains it, and what you want to be different. Nothing is forced, and the pace is yours throughout.
From the second or third session, a structure usually develops. Sessions start with a check-in, review what was practised between appointments, introduce new skills or go deeper into patterns that have come up, and end with a clear plan for the week ahead.
Progress tends to be quiet rather than dramatic. It might look like noticing a thought pattern without being controlled by it. Doing something you had been avoiding. Waking up without the tension that used to be there first thing. Those small shifts tend to accumulate into something more significant over time.
Most people I work with see meaningful change within 8 to 16 sessions, though this varies depending on the presentation.
Working online and in person
I offer sessions online, making specialist anxiety therapy accessible from anywhere in the UK. In-person sessions are available in London for those who prefer face-to-face work.
If you’re weighing up whether medication might play a role alongside therapy, the anxiety medication page covers how the two compare.
